My Job!

I'm an adoption caseworker for LDS Family Services. I have been an employee of LDS Family Services for almost three years now. Two of those years I was a secretary. I have my bachelor's degree in Social Work and am also a Social Service Worker (SSW) for the State of Utah. I truly have a passion for the work I do. My clients consist of adoptive couples and birth parents. I have helped facilitate our birth parent support group. Each birth mother has their own unique story and they all are the ultimate example of being selfless by placing a child into an adoptive couple's arms who are not able to have children on their own. These adopted children have a huge circle of people that love them. It has been a life changing experience to witness the miracle of adoption. It is truly a part of Heavenly Father's plan. Helping birth mothers in their adoption plan and helping adoptive couples recieve a child into their home is so rewarding!

Yum!

Mckayla: "Yum, I love my baby food." Mckayla has been eating baby food for a couple of weeks now. She loves the carrots, sweet potatoes, and bananas the most. It was so funny when I gave her a first taste of peas, she made a "blah" sound and it sounded like she was gagging on them. She must take after her Grandpa. He is not a fan of peas. :)

Wild Hair

Hey guys, check out my wild hair. If mommy doesn't do my hair, this is what it looks like.

Mckayla's 1st Christmas

My aunt gave Mckayla this shirt that says: "Baby's First Christmas." Mckayla doesn't know it, but she had a really good Christmas. On Christmas Eve she spent the night at her great grandpa Carlsen's house in North Ogden where the family enjoyed a ham dinner and opened gifts. Then, she got to spend the night at her grandma Humpherys' house in Layton. That morning she enjoyed the company of her aunt Nicky, aunt Rachelle, uncle Jared, cousin Caden, Grandma and Grandpa, and mom and dad. Later that day she got to visit her other Grandma and Grandpa Carlsen where more Christmas activities took place. She got passed around from person to person where she got cuddled and kissed. Mckayla was the best present for Christmas this year!

sweet

Mckayla looks so sweet when she is sleeping. She gave mom and dad the Christmas present of sleep. Well, we don't know how long this sleep streak will last, but we are grateful for any night she sleeps longer than normal. Last night she slept 7 and half hours in a row. That is her new record!

Sunset

My Dad took this picture of the sun setting. Looking at it made me grateful for all the no snow days we have enjoyed this month. Well today it ended up snowing. Justin had to shovel the first time at our new house. Luckily it didn't snow very much. We hope that you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Twins are 23!

One more year has come and gone. My twin sister and I celebrated our 23rd Birthday on November 6th. We are to the point where it doesn't even matter how many candles are on the cake! Justin took me to the Outback Steakhouse where I enjoyed a delicious steak and sweet potato. Yum!!
