Idaho Camping Trip

Justin's family decided that they all wanted to go camping over labor day to some of the Humpherys property in Grays Lake, Idaho (No there is no lake there, just swampy marshlands and lots of mosquitos. Luckily we went late enough in the year that we didn't get bugged by the mosquitos. We made it a quick trip and camped out just one night. The rest of the family came up a night before us. Mckayla loved chasing her cousin's dog Eddy around. All the adults Friday afternoon went shotgun and rifle shooting. That was fun. I'm not sure how much Mckayla likes camping, but she needs to learn to rough it out in the wild.

Davis County Fair

August 18, 2011

We took Mckayla to the fair this month. The highlights included, free pony rides for kids, a diving dogs show in a pool of water, Justin winning a sponge bob stuffed toy for Mckayla, yummy food, and going on the carnival rides.

Here were some small tugboats that Mckayla went on. She loved all the fair rides there.

Here is the first mini roller coaster that Mckayla went on. She smiled and waved at mommy and daddy each time it went by us.

Here are some bunnies they had exhibited. Mckayla liked seeing them. They also had some roosters for show. It made me laugh to see a $3 for sale sign on a rooster.

Play-Doh Fun

Mckayla loves playing with Play-Doh. Okay, I must admit I enjoy playing with it too! Our favorite thing to do is to make play food out of it. Mckayla's favorite request to a "crabby patty" from the show Sponge Bob, aka hamburger.

Tracy Aviary

Earlier this spring I took Mckayla to the Tracy Aviary in SLC. She really enjoyed seeing the exotic birds. Here are a few pictures I took with my phone:

Justin's Office Makeover

For Father's Day this year I decided to surprise Justin while he was out on a business trip by going into his office and sprucing it up. His co-workers were impressed with the end results and were grateful that his office felt more "home-like" and not like he was about to "move out." After re-arranging a couple pieces of furniture, collecting several dusty rags, and a can of lemon pledge later, here was the results:

This is the sign I made for Justin's desk when he came back from his business trip. I left him two of his favorite treats: Reeses PB cups and pistachios. Justin loved his surprise and couldn't believe he was walking into his office.

6 Years of Bliss!

THEN (April 2005)
NOW (April 2011)
On May 25, 2011 Justin and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary. In my card to Justin I wrote that I don't consider us being newly weds anymore. We are both very happy with the decision we made 6 years ago to get married to each other. We have had a wonderful six years together and plan on forever more. We are both pleased with all the accomplishments: temporally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually that have taken place over the past 6 years. I will spare the mushy gushy stuff, but just know we are doing great and are very happy together!

Hello NEW Car

Here is my new car. It's a 2004 Passat GLS Wagon. My dad has had a passion for Volkswagens my whole life. He recently bought himself a Passat Wagon and loves his so much he wanted to buy one for my twin sister and I. Thanks Dad! This is such a generous gift! My old Passat was a 1993 and I was ready for an upgrade. I will miss driving manual, but it will be nice having automatic in traffic. It should get much better gas mileage than my old car as well.

Check out that huge trunk space! With my old Passat Wagon we brought home our stainless steel BBQ grill and could carry our bulky stroller. Since the seats fold down you can transport so many things without getting a truck.
