New House

At the end of December we closed on our new house in East Layton. 3200 sq. feet and 6 bedrooms. We feel very blessed to have gotten a great deal on it and we hope this will be our forever house where we will raise our family. Justin was most excited for having a garage and a huge basement with a pool table. He has already had some competitions on it with his Dad. I love all the space and storage the house has. I also love the unique features the home has including vaulted ceilings in the family room with a fire place, built in captain beds in the basement, and a bay window dining nook that looks out into a beautiful forest looking backyard (reminds me of my childhood backyard growing up). The past few months have been very busy for us as we have decided to rent out our previous home. We are grateful for some people Justin works with that have rental homes that have given us guidance and direction in the process. We have now been in our new house for almost three weeks and it is starting to feel like home now!

First Leaf Pile

Yesterday Mckayla got to jump in her first leaf pile. I love the pictures that show her excitement with her hands thrown in the air and her hair flying everywhere. The funny thing is we don't have any trees in our yard, but we have to rake up the leaves that fall from our neighbors trees. Luckily there wasn't too many. :)

Mckayla's 3rd Birthday

These are Mckayla's Fur Real pets she got from Mommy and Daddy for her b-day. Buttons is the dog, and the kitty doesn't have a name yet.

Over the weekend we celebrated Mckayla's 3rd birthday. We are so grateful for her in our family. She is such a joy in our lives. On Saturday I made Mckayla pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Then later Justin and I took her to Boondocks. That night she got to blow out candles on an icecream cone while visiting Grandma and Grandpa Carlsen. On Sunday Grandma and Grandpa Humpherys made a special dinner for Mckayla's birthday. We had an icecream sundae bar for dessert. The celebrations continue with a cousin and friend party at Chuck E Cheese this weekend. Happy 3rd Birthday Mckayla. We love you!

Decorating Pumpkins

These are Mckayla's masterpieces. She spent over an hour painting and was so content and focused.
These are three pumpkins I decorated.

During Priesthood Session of Conference this past weekend, my mom and little sister came over to my house for a girls night. I make a yummy homemade dinner and then we decorated pumpkins.

Homemade Christmas Tags

Okay so I am getting excited for Christmas already. I thought I would get a head start and make some homemade Christmas gift tags. Here are some of them.

Fall Canning

Look at those beautiful pears! Showing are only a few of several pints we canned.
Our ward's Relief Society this year passed around a sign up sheet to buy a box of pears at a great deal. I signed up for a box thinking that it would be great to can since Mckayla loves pears. I didn't have much experience canning until a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to my awesome mother in law who volunteered to help my mom and I can some pears, we got over 40 pints of pears and 8 or so pints of pear sauce done in record time! The week before that I did grape juice with my mom. That was hard work, but am proud to say that I had that experience.

Idaho Camping Trip

Justin's family decided that they all wanted to go camping over labor day to some of the Humpherys property in Grays Lake, Idaho (No there is no lake there, just swampy marshlands and lots of mosquitos. Luckily we went late enough in the year that we didn't get bugged by the mosquitos. We made it a quick trip and camped out just one night. The rest of the family came up a night before us. Mckayla loved chasing her cousin's dog Eddy around. All the adults Friday afternoon went shotgun and rifle shooting. That was fun. I'm not sure how much Mckayla likes camping, but she needs to learn to rough it out in the wild.

Davis County Fair

August 18, 2011

We took Mckayla to the fair this month. The highlights included, free pony rides for kids, a diving dogs show in a pool of water, Justin winning a sponge bob stuffed toy for Mckayla, yummy food, and going on the carnival rides.

Here were some small tugboats that Mckayla went on. She loved all the fair rides there.

Here is the first mini roller coaster that Mckayla went on. She smiled and waved at mommy and daddy each time it went by us.

Here are some bunnies they had exhibited. Mckayla liked seeing them. They also had some roosters for show. It made me laugh to see a $3 for sale sign on a rooster.
